I’m sorry to say…

in ME,TUTORIALS

but this… this is my dining room table:

*gasp!*

Yes the rest of my house is pretty much as clean as it can be at the moment.  In fact, for having 3 sick girls all week, it’s looking good. But here it is… in all its glory… & yes folks, this is the sort of thing that happens when kids get sick — can I get an amen? …Okay & also when kids are not sick. Hmmm….. let’s just say, this kind of thing happens, even to people who profess to be clean freaks. I have so many projects on here that I have yet to finish but don’t want to put away because the whole ‘out of site out of mind’ thing proves to be so very true in my little life.

**Oh dining room table, you have caused me to grumble more than once.**

Side note: When Daniel read my last blog, and I mentioned that I grumble pretty much every day, he literally laughed out loud. And he said “L-O-L-O-L-O-L”…. okay no he didn’t, he didn’t say that. But anyway, does this mean it happens a lot? Yikes.

I know, it just looks like a bunch of junk. But I promise you it is not. Anyway looking at this table has inspired me to show you a mini tutorial. I’m not sure how many I will be posting, but I’m sure I will do some… if I so chose to blog beyond this post. See those clothes stacked up near the front? Those are stained old clothes of my girls. I’m prepping to sell some on craigslist (see diaper bag thingy) but these are stained and I don’t feel like including them. So I thought, why not make some hair clips?

Folks, making one of these hair clips takes all of 10 minutes, 4 of those minutes being waiting for the glue gun to heat up, so really all of 6 minutes… (I know all of this from the time stamps on my pictures ;) ) that was INCLUDING taking said pictures, and holding a crying baby, so I’m sure it would be even faster without such interferences.

{WHAT YOU NEED}
• Hot glue gun (if you don’t have one, they are like $2 at Michaels)
• Hot glue sticks (if you don’t have them, they are like $1 at Michaels… something like that)
• Old clothes or ribbon
• Hair clips (you can get a pack of 100 for $5 at Sally Beauty)

{HOW IT’S DONE}
1. Plug in hot glue gun (I did not do this to begin with, hence the waiting.)
2. Cut a strip of clothing. Does not matter how long or wide or perfect it is. (I should say the longer, the bigger the rose, and I usually do 1.5-2ish inch width) **did this holding my baby**
3. Tie a knot in one end **did this holding my baby**

4. Set baby down, if she/he is anything like mine, they will cry for the entire 5 more minutes it takes to make this clip… hysterically,… like you have just ruined his/her life.
5. Wrap fabric around twisting and gluing as you go. I make sure you glue it all. I do a strip of glue, then wrap the fabric on top of the glue, and so on.

Front should look like this:

6. Cut off extra fabric by your knot.

7. Place glue in middle of the back of the flower, open your clip and place it in the glue.

9. Fold Fabric over clip & glue.

10. Glue down ends.

11. Trim off excess fabric.

12. Pick up crying baby & put clip in hair & make her take a picture with it while still VERY upset that you dared to set her down ;) . Then love her and snuggle her and continue on your day doing everything while holding her & thank God He gave you girls (in my case) who love you so very much :) .

ps. I think it’s very funny I chose to do this tutorial as my 2nd blog. When only Daniel (who I’m sure was DYING to know how to make these), & Charis, Myriah, & my mom (who have boys, and … well I don’t think my mom wants to wear roses in her hair) read this. But I should say: Charis & Ry, you can make yourself cute flowers for your hair or cute flowers for gifts…. or just start stocking up for my future nieces. Yes I did just say that.
